Year of publication : 1979
Keywords : HISTORY; MSIRI STAFF; LIB; MAURITIUS;
Citation : Ly Tio Fane, M.; Sources for the study of natural history: South Indian Ocean eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries; 1979
Abstract : The material discussed relates to scientific investigations in the Mascarene islands of Isle de France (Mauritius) and Bourbon (Réunion) in the second half of the eighteenth and the early years of the nineteenth century. It spans the activities of three generations of naturalists: the first working with Pierre Poivre during his years of office as Intendant; the second gravitating round the Jardin du Roi, Pamplemousses, when Nicolas Céré was its Director; the third working on a programme evolved by the Société des Sciences et Arts de l'Isle de France during the brief but productive stay of the scientific staff of Nicolas Baudin.

Title : Les escarbilles de sucreries en remplacement de la bagacillo pour la filtration des boues de cannes
Year of publication : 1979
Keywords : FLY ASH; FILTRATION; SUGAR FACTORY WASTE; EQUIPMENT; SUGAR; PROCESSING; MSIRI STAFF; ST; MAURITIUS;
Citation : Marie-Jeanne, S.; Les escarbilles de sucreries en remplacement de la bagacillo pour la filtration des boues de cannes; 1979
Abstract : Treatment of tsugar factory effluents containing fly-ash requires the installation of additional equipment for separation, dewatering, storing and final disposal of the fly-ash. Using this fly-ash in replacement of bagacillo for the filtration of primary muds offeres an elegant way of solving the problem while reducing substantially the cost of installation of the treatment plant.
